The best type of traffic is organic traffic coming from search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo and other more than 140 search engines since it's free traffic in bulk.
The viewers coming from search engines can only be possible if our website or a blog page is ranking in the top 10 which means our website is visible on the front page for a search done.
The following are some of the major factors to getting a top ranking.
Keywords
A single word or a group of words which are used to search any query is called Keywords which is one of the major factors to drive traffic to your website.
I suggest doing keywords researches before starting a blog.

How to use keywords
1 Use mainly long-tail keywords(a group of words, a sentence or a phrase) which will help to find your blog for a specific search.
2 Use the keyword in a catchy heading of a blog.
3 Use the keyword in the description of the post.
4 Use a keyword in the alt-text of the image.
5 Use the keyword in the first & the last paragraph.
6 Don't use the keyword more, it should be part of a sentence.
7 Use 3-4 extra keywords in a post.
Content
High-quality unique content with more than 1200 words has more chance to rank high in searches.

Regularly publishing a blog at regular intervals leads to an increase the website traffic. 2 posts per weak is the ideal situation to increase organic traffic.
I normally publish one or two posts in a month hence the chances of ranking are less but since I'm consistently posting my Alexa ranking is improving day by day, so don't be lazy like me-- hahaha.
Readability
Small sentences, not more than 20 words, a paragraph with a maximum of 150 words attracts the viewers and increases the readability.
Transitional words like meanwhile, however, moreover, although ease the readability.
A sentence with an active voice creates more impact on the reader as compared to a sentence with a passive voice. For example "A tv channel released a new update" gives more impact than " A new update was released by a tv channel".
Grammatical mistakes also affect readability.
If the readability of a blog page is not up to the mark it may increase the bounce rate which is one of the major parameters for ranking.
SEO
Search engine optimisation is an endless long process to facilitate search engines to crawl, index and rank your website.
Starting from the keywords research to ranking number one on the search engine result page (SERP).
It includes On-page SEO, Technical SEO, and Off-page SEO.

Competition
You are not alone who doing blogging, everyone is trying to increase traffic to their websites.
I suggest reading other top blogs related to your keywords and thinking about how can you write better than your competitor, the more information and knowledge you share increase your chances to rank high.

Direct traffic is ranked high in all the 5 types of website traffic since this traffic is considered when a visitor searches your website by the name of the website, by the domain name or by typing the URL of your website not by clicking the link from any platform.
It indicates that your website is well-known and popular hence the chances of ranking are high.
For example, Google, Amazon, and Microsoft... get more direct traffic.
To increase direct traffic to your website is to advertise, and promote it on every online and offline platform such as social media, forums, tv, books, magazines, and newspaper... more the promotion more chances to get in the notice of your viewers although the best promotion is from the words of mouth.

Traffic coming from social media on your website by clicking the link from your post is social traffic.
In the ranking of your website, it's helpful to some extent in increasing the backlinks to your sites.

1 Increase your followers/audience by creating your profile as a trustworthy, knowledgable, helpful person.
2 Post valued material regularly with attractive images. Avoid spamming.
3 Communicate and have a meaningful conversation to convert to your goal.

The traffic coming from your emails, and advertising sites which refer to your website through a link is referral traffic.
